Caring For You During Surgery

The Brunswick Surgery Center team is committed to ensuring a positive surgery experience from the moment you enter the door. We are here to answer all of your questions and make your time with us as comfortable as possible. We also extend our warm welcome to your family and friends while they wait during your procedure.

Here’s what you can expect on the day of your surgery:

Arrival

Upon arrival, you will be greated by our receptionist and connected to an admissions counselor who will review your paperwork and check your photo ID. Please arrive at the surgery center on time and be sure to bring your insurance card, photo ID and method of payment for co-insurance, deductibles, etc.

Preparation

A nurse who has been assigned to oversee your care will review your chart, ask a few important questions and prepare you for surgery. Please be sure to tell your surgery center team if you’re not feeling well or have been sick recently. Your surgery may need to be postponed until you’re feeling better.

Before your surgery, an anesthesiologist will ask questions about your health history and experiences with anesthesia. Please be thorough because some conditions are associated with a higher risk of infection and we will take extra precautions if needed. You may also receive medications to relieve any nausea or heartburn, or to help you relax.

Infection Prevention

Preventing infection is our top priority. Our team follows strict protocols for sterility and cleanliness, cleaning our hands throughout the process and disinfecting the surgical site. We may need to remove hair around the surgical site. If needed, you may be given an antibiotic prior to surgery.

Family and Friends

Your family members and friends are welcome to wait in the designated area during your surgery. A large-screen television, wireless internet access and complimentary coffee are provided.
